About this course
A live, hands-on course that takes you from Claude power user to builder. In week 1 you master Claude chat, Projects, Artifacts, Cowork and Connectors. After the Thanksgiving break you use Claude Code to build your own Budget Dashboard: a personal budget web app with monthly totals, a spending chart and over-budget alerts, built entirely by prompting Claude. No coding background needed.
Every 2-hour session follows the same rhythm: a quick recap quiz, one short concept, a live demo, a 50-minute hands-on lab, then sharing and wrap-up. Office hours run after each session, so nobody stays stuck.
Thanksgiving week is your time to finish the pre-course setup (Claude desktop app, VS Code, Git, Python and a GitHub account), with a step-by-step guide for Windows and Mac.
On Demo Day you present your working app on GitHub and earn your certificate.
By the end, you'll be able to
What you'll learn
Four prompt moves that make Claude's answers clearer, checkable and reusable.
Keep your instructions and files in one place, and turn data into clean tables and charts.
Hand Claude desktop tasks, and connect it safely to Google Drive, Gmail and GitHub.
Plan, build, test and fix a real app just by describing what you want.
Monthly totals, a spending chart, budget alerts and CSV import, on GitHub by Demo Day.
Why this topic matters
Most people use Claude as a chat box. This course shows you the rest: Projects, Cowork, Connectors and Claude Code, the tools that turn Claude into a teammate that does real work.
You don't just watch. You build one real app, step by step, live, and leave with a working Budget Dashboard on GitHub that you can show employers or use every month.
Every session is hands-on, with office hours right after, and Demo Day gives you a deadline and an audience.
